For flute and orchestra/ para flauta y orquesta

El concierto Nº4 fue escrito originalmente para flauta solista, orquesta de cuerdas y percusión. Fue comisionado por el flautista Venezolano Luís Julio Toro, uno de nuestros más reconocidos y versátiles maestros. En esta obra el ritmo en 5/8 del merengue venezolano domina en todo el 1er movimiento, con explosivas y cortas frases que comprometen al solistas principalmente en el registro sobreagudo del instrumento. La Canción con lisonja (2do mov.) es una leve tonada melancólica que anuncia brevemente su canto y en poco compases da paso al joropo: la Triquiñuela del 3er movimiento donde los ritmos sincopados y los sobresaltos están a la orden del día. Fuegos artificiales en la 3era octava siempre penetrante y virtuosa se entretejen con los ritmos siempre retadores del Joropo: la danza nacional venezolana.

Concerto No. 4 was originally written for solo flute, string orchestra and percussion. It was commissioned by Venezuelan artist Luis Julio Toro, one of our most recognized and versatile flutists. In this work the rhythm in 5/8 of the Venezuelan merengue dominates throughout the 1st movement, with explosive and short phrases that compromise the soloist mainly in the high register of the instrument. “La Canción con lisonja” (2nd mov.) is a slight melancholic tune that briefly announces its melody and a few bars after gives way to the joropo: the “Triquiñuela” of the 3rd movement, where the syncopated rhythms and the startles are the order of the day. Fireworks in the 3rd octave always penetrating and virtuous are interwoven with the challenging rhythms of the Jopopo: the Venezuelan national dance.
