For Piccolo solo​

The land we call “el Llano” (the plains) manifests itself to us in many ways, in my case in the form of melodies and musical airs that suggest its geography, or in the form of the loud voice of “the llanero” in the midst of his adventures and chores. This time it’s the piccolo who takes the lead and explores both the plaintive airs of the sad tune called “Tonada” and the virtuous pyrotechnics of the joropo in all its expression. This piece written in November 2021 comes to take its place alongside many others such as “El Bachiano” and “Luna con Joropo y viceversa” where Bach unwittingly appears in the middle of the speech and leaves his imperishable mark on my music.

El llano se nos manifiesta de muchas maneras, en mi caso en forma de melodías y aires que sugieren su geografía, o en forma de canto de viva voz del llanero en medio de sus andanzas y quehaceres. Esta vez es el piccolo el que toma la palabra y explora tanto los aires lastimeros de la tonada como la virtuosa pirotecnia del joropo en toda su expresión. Esta pieza escrita en noviembre de 2021 viene a tomar su lugar al lado de otras tantas como “El Bachiano” y “Luna con Joropo y viceversa” donde Bach se asoma sin querer en pleno discurso y deja su huella imperecedera en mi música.
